How To Stop Itchy Skin Naturally

1.Taking bath with Cold Water.

Cold water bath helps in stopping the itch as it weakens the itching process. Cool showers or applying cold ice packs on areas which have heavy itching helps in giving instant relief.

2. Honey and Milk.

Milk is one of the most nourishing foods, not only for health but also for external application on the skin. Many beauty experts will recommend that you to take a milk bath at least once in a month. All you need to do is to take some milk in a bowl and use a clean white soft cloth to dip in the same and apply it to the body, especially the itching part. Milk helps in soothing the itchy part.

Honey is also a good coolant. Honey has anti-microbial and antioxidant properties which help in protecting the skin. We find honey in most natural and herbal beauty products. Slightly heat up about 2 tsp of honey and apply it on the affected parts and wash it after 15 to 20 minutes for good relief.

3. Coconut Oil.

Coconut  Oil is one of the oldest remedies used for itching skin. We all remember our loving grandma using coconut oil for many things. Normally people suffering from cracked heels or rough elbows etc., are advised to apply coconut oil on the affected areas in the night. In the morning you can take a lukewarm bath and see the improvement. Applying coconut oil on the itchy area helps in giving relief against itching. Coconut milk helps in reducing the dryness and itchiness of the skin.

4. Neem.

Neem is one of the most important plants which has a lot of medicinal properties. Neem is anti-fungal, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. 5. Lemon.

6. Aloe Vera Gel or Juice.

Fresh Aloe Vera gel can be applied to moisturize and make the skin smooth. Applying Aloe Vera gel to itchy skin, sun burnt skin or to other rashes will give relief.

7. Basil Leaves.

Basil leaves have rich healing properties. The presence of thymol, camphor and eugenol in basil leaves helps in giving relief against itching. 8. Fenugreek seeds.

Fenugreek seeds are loaded with anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties. You can take a tsp of dry roasted powder of fenugreek seeds along with a tsp of chickpea flour and add fresh yogurt. Make a thick paste and apply it on the affected part. Let it dry and then wash it off with cold water. It gives relief to itching.

9. Essential Oils.

Many essential oils like lavender oil, geranium oil, calendula oil, chamomile oil, clove oil etc., help in giving good relief against itching, dryness, dry skin etc. You can add them to your daily bath to have an aromatic bath or just apply a little on the affected part.

10. Daily moisturizing lotion or Petroleum Jelly.

We all have a moisturizing lotion or a petroleum jelly at home. A simple application of the moisturizing lotion or petroleum jelly can give relief against the itchiness caused due to the dryness of skin.

11. Oatmeal.

Oatmeal can also be cooling and soothing for irritated and itchy skin. Mix oatmeal with cold water to make it damp and then apply the same on the irritated skin for good results. You can also add oatmeal to your bath water and soak your itchy skin for better results.

12. Different types of oils like almond oil, olive oil, sesame oil help in soothing the itchy skin.

Massaging different oils like almond oil, sesame oil or olive oil on the hands or legs or on any part that has an itch can help to give relief. Warm the oil slightly i.e., make it lukewarm and apply it on the affected part and then take a nice bath to get excellent results. Remember not to take a hot water bath as it will aggravate itching. Cold water is better suited to give relief to itchy skin.

Lack of proper skin hydration and dryness leads to skin irritation and an oil massage helps to lubricate the skin and make it soft and smooth. Sesame oil is a golden-hued oil which acts as a sunscreen and helps in removing rashes and sunburns.

13. Apple Cider vinegar.

Some beauty experts have recommended adding apple cider vinegar to your bath water and then soaking into it for around half an hour to get rid of itching. If you have a small patch then you can apply a little apple cider vinegar with cotton on the affected part.
