Our Capital is covered with a thick blanket of toxic smog, which also leads to accidents on the highway. Many people, both young and old, have been diagnosed with a lot of respiratory diseases which are the direct result of pollution. In this article, we will show you How To Purify Air At Home Naturally.

Though externally, the government is taking steps to bring down the pollution levels, we also can contribute by taking some steps to naturally purify the air in our home.

How To Purify Air At Home Naturally

There are some basic things which are easy to implement and which can help in purifying the air in our houses. In a highly polluted environment people prefer staying at home and so it is important that we take steps to make the air we inhale at home clean.

1. Use Beeswax candles.

Beeswax candles are a great way of purifying the air in the house. These candles help in ionizing the air and neutralizing the toxic components. One of the main advantages of these candles is that they burn slowly and hence you do not need to replace them very often. These candles help in removing the common allergens like dust from the air, thereby purifying the air.

Avoid using paraffin candles which have petroleum in them and release chemicals like benzene and toluene in the air, thereby making the air more polluted.

2. Increase the ventilation in the house.

A good ventilated house will help a lot in keeping you and the family healthy. A good ventilated home helps in reducing the moisture levels, which is important to maintain the quality of the air.

Now, you will say that the air outside is so polluted, so how can it benefit by keeping all the windows and doors open. All you need to do is to install some trickle vents which will help to purify and cycle the air you breathe. Whenever you are cooking, ensure that there is an exhaust fan which helps to carry the pollutants outside.

Whenever you take a hot shower, ensure that you let out all the steam and extra moisture in the air. This will help in reducing the indoor pollution.

3. Use Activated Charcoal for purifying the air.

One of the most fantastic ways of purifying air is through activated charcoal. Activated charcoal is also called carbon, which is odourless and highly absorbent. It helps in removing the toxins from the air.

Bamboo Charcoal is another way of purifying air naturally. Charcoal helps in purifying the toxins, both from air and water. Nowadays you easily get a bamboo charcoal air purifying bag on Amazon which helps in removing unpleasant odours, toxins, bacteria, allergens and it also helps in absorbing the moisture.

4. Indoor house plants help in purifying the air.

Most of the times we see potted plants inside the house and feel that they are kept there for increasing the beauty of the house. NASA has conducted a research which states that plants like the peace lily, lady palm, bamboo palm etc., help in reducing the indoor pollution. It is said that if one plant is kept for every 100 Square meters, then your home will have good natural air cleaning.

Some of the best plants which help in purifying the air are Peace lily, Money plant, Golden cane palm, Areca palm, English Ivy, Boston Fern etc.

5. Salt Lamps.

Salt lamps also help in purifying the air. There are different types of salt lamps available on Amazon. For e.g., the natural Himalayan rock salt lamp helps in cleansing the air by pulling out the toxins and neutralizing them. It also works when it is switched off.

6. Try and eliminate the source of pollution.

You cannot possibly remove all the sources of air pollution but you can try and minimize them. Avoid excessive moisture, smoking in the house, strong paint or polish odour or any other chemical products which have a strong smell.

It is important to make a correct lifestyle choice to include natural and herbal products and reduce the usage of chemical laden products.

7. Use Aromatic Essential oils.

Aromatic essential oils like cinnamon, oregano, thyme, rosemary, lavender, clove or tree oil etc., help in removing fungi, bacteria and other pollutants. The antiseptic quality helps in keeping the home free from germs and also in purifying the air.

Some other tips are listed below –

  • Keep a doormat and remove your shoes at the door itself. This simple step will help in reducing the toxins in the house.
  • Clean the potted plants regularly and remove their dried leaves.
  • Service your air conditioners regularly.
  • Use air purifiers to purify the air around you.
  • Keep your pets clean and hygienic.
  • Plant more trees around you.
  • Take regular vacations in unpolluted destinations and enjoy nature.

We cannot survive without air. Though we cannot do much about the external pollution, we can still use these small measures which can help us keep our surroundings clean. Clean and pure air to breathe is a luxury these days. Try the above simple tips which will help in keeping the family healthy.
