1. Ooty

Ooty is known for its scenic beauty and picturesque landscape. It was originally established as the summer capital of Madras by the British. Ooty is located in the Nilgiri Mountain range in Tamilnadu. Some of the main tourist attractions are the ones which are located outside Ooty city and include well-manicured parks, gardens, sunset points and beautiful bungalows built by the British.

2. Mount Abu

Mount  Abu is a beautiful and cool destination in the desert of Rajasthan. It lies in the Aravali hill range at an altitude of 1164 meters. It has a beautiful and cool weather. The best time to visit Mount Abu is from September to December and then from May to June.

Some of the main attractions of Mount Abu are Nakki lake, Wildlife sanctuary, Trevor’s tank, Abu road, Toad rock etc.

3. Darjeeling

We all have seen the famous toy train in Hindi movies from the Darjeeling Mountain railways. This toy train travels through the beautiful picturesque hills of Darjeeling. This hill station is located at a height of  6710 feet with a beautiful view of the Himalayan peaks and tea estates.

Some of the main attractions of Darjeeling are historical places, parks and the toy train ride in the tea estates. Other beautiful attractions include the Tiger Hill, Batasia loop, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, Darjeeling Himalayan Railways, awesome views of the Kanchenjunga and tea gardens etc.

4. Kodaikanal

Kodaikanal is a popular hill station in south India, which is located in the Palani hill range in Tamilnadu. It is a beautiful hill station located at a height of approximately 7200 feet above sea level. It has beautiful lakes, waterfalls and valley viewpoints. Some of the main attractions are the green valley view, silent valley view, Kodai lake, pine forest etc.

5. Auli (Uttarakhand)

Auli is one of the most ski-friendly destinations in India. It is renowned for its dense coniferous forests and breathtaking views. Some of the main attractions are the Valley of Flowers, cable ride, artificial lake, Chenab lake, hot spring point etc.

Winter months from November until February are the best time to visit in order to enjoy skiing. The slopes of the mountains are covered with snow, which makes skiing down the slopes enjoyable.

6. Shillong

Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya. It is one of the most beautiful hill stations in the northeast region. It is situated at a height of approximately 1550 meters above sea level. It has a pleasant and cool climate throughout the year. Some of the main attractions are the Umiam lake, botanical garden, Ward’s lake, Eagle falls, elephant waterfalls etc.

7. Mussoorie

Mussoorie is also called the queen of the hills. It’s beautiful and breathtaking views have not only made it a popular tourist destination but also the educational hub of Uttarakhand. 8. Almora

Almora is one of the most popular hill stations in Uttarakhand. Excellent weather combined with the beautiful landscape captivates the heart. It is situated at a height of approx. 5400m above sea level. It is surrounded by beautiful pine and fir trees.

Some of the major attractions are adventure sports like mountain trekking, biking, river rafting and hiking etc. Further many great personalities like Swami Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore were captivated by the breathtaking views of this place. Some of the other attractions are the Binsar wildlife sanctuary, Museums, deer parks etc.

9. Manali

Manali is a beautiful hill station popularly known as a honeymoon destination. The beautiful snow-capped mountains, peaks and great food will make your stay here enjoyable.

10. Shimla

Shimla is a popular hill station located at the foothills of the Himalayas. It is located approximately 2100 meters above sea level. This hill station is surrounded by pine and oak trees. Mall road is the destination for popular activities like shopping and entertainment. Vehicles are not allowed on the arterial mall road.

Some of the main attractions are Scandal point, Viceregal Lodge, Christ church, Arki fort, Gaiety heritage cultural complex etc.
